The Ringed Plover and the Oystercatcher are birds of conservation concern. Their population decline is partially due to unsustainable levels of nest failures. Human disturbance and predation are the two main factors causing nest failure. We can help these birds by giving them space during the nesting season, April-August. Look out for the signs and fence posts marking nesting safe zones for beach nesting birds. Please avoid spending time on the shingle as much as possible during the nesting season to minimise disturbance.
